I was the oldest of 6 children. Exactly 1 year, 1 week later along came Sissy. Sissy wasn’t her real name it was her nickname. Not even sure how she got this nickname but it stuck. Everyone needs a Sissy. Our early years were in East Wendover. We had a wonderful mother who did her best to teach us how to cook. We still trade any new cooking tips or recipes we’ve learned. Which brings us to Sissy’s cookies. Try them out. I think you will agree they are the best!
Preheat oven at 350°. Using a mixer, cream butter and sugars until smooth, about 3 minutes. Start with the butter, add sugars slowly while mixing until smooth.
Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Mix two more minutes. Stir in vanilla.
Whisk together flour and baking soda.
Reduce speed to low, add dry ingredients. Mix until moistened. Only about 10 seconds. Caution: do not mix too long.
Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. You can use any kind I like to mix semi-sweet, milk chocolate and white chocolate.
Line a baking sheet with nonstick baking mat or parchment paper. Drop cookies onto baking sheet 2” apart. Bake for 10 – 12 minutes or until golden brown. Repeat with remaining dough.
